Membership …

  1. Class of Members: The Association shall consist of ordinary Members (Annual Members) and Life Members.
    • Membership will be open to all persons subject to approval of the Executive Committee, who were at one time student, research workers, or teaching/non teaching staffs of the Department of Botany, University of Kalyani, ordinary member of the Association will pay an Annual Subscription of Rs. 50/- or £. 5.00 or $. 10.00 only or as may be decided from time to time and shall be eligible for all the privileges of membership including the right to vote and to hold office of the Association.
    • Life membership subscription will be Rs. 1000/- or £ 100.00 or $ 200.00 only. Life member shall be eligible for all the privileges of members.
    • Payment of Subscription : Subscription of membership shall be due on the first month of Accounting year i.e. April of every year.
  2. Cessation of Membership : Any member shall cease to be a member –
    • A member who fails to pay his/her subscription for any particular year within that year shall loss all his/her rights and privileges of membership on and from the 1st of June following. His/her membership may be restored on his clearing up all arrear subscriptions, or on payment of an additional fee of Rs. 50/- along with the subscription for the current year.
    • A member may terminate his/her membership by sending a letter of resignation to the Hony. General Secretary.
    • A member who became insane or insolvent.
    • A member shall cease to be a member on his/her conviction of any offence in connection with the formation, promotion, management or conduct of affairs of a society or a body corporate or of any offence involving moral turpitude.
  3. Expulsion of Members : Frequent action of any member if found by the Executive Committee detrimental to the interest and is in violation of the rules and regulations of the Association, he/she may be after due inquiry, censured, suspended or expelled from the membership by the Executive Committee. In that case the Executive Committee shall first serve the member concerned with a show cause showing therein the charges framed and ask him/her to submit his/her statement of defence within a month. On receipt of the explanation the Executive Committee shall have the power to take a suitable action against the delinquent member after allowing him/her to defend his/her case. If no reply to the show cause notice is received within a month, the Executive Committee may take an ex-parte decision.

For any act of expulsion or termination no such member shall be entitled to prefer any claim for compensation or damage even improved on subsequent date that such act of expulsion or termination was wrongful and or unlawful.

  1. Rights and Obligations of Members : Members of this Association shall have the right :
    • To receive copies of the publications of the Association free of cost or at such reduced rates as the Executive Committee may determined;
    • To be present at, participate in the deliberations and vote (one vote each) in all the meetings of the Association, Other members of the chapter/Branches shall not be asked to exercise vote at such meetings.
    • Ordinary and Life Members shall have the further right : to propose or second candidates for election as office bearers or as Members of the Executive Committee, and to participate in the voting in their elections.
    • To be eligible for elections as office bearers or as Members of the Executive Committee.

Register of Members : Regular Register of members will be maintained and members will be entitled to inspect the Register at suitable time.
